I just received a new Magellan’s catalog yesterday and I was inspired to write a post about a few of my favorite travel accessories.(Warning) When browsing a catalog like this you can get overwhelmed and CRAZY thinking “I need that, and THAT, and OOOOH, that too!” There are so many wonderful ideas but don’t get carried away spending a bunch of money before you even hit the airport. A few handy items can go a long way.

1) Pack-It Cubes and Pack-It Sacs from Eagle CreekThe Pack-It Cube come in a variety of sizes. The sizes I use and recommend are Pack-It Cube, Pack-It Half-Cube, and Pack-It Quarter Cube. I happened to purchase the 3-size as a set at REI a few years ago and I never travel with out them. They make packing and un-packing so simple and organized and really aides in getting everything to fit in your suitcase. I LOVE em!!!!

The Pack-It Sac comes in a variety of sizes and I personally use the Pack-It Sac Small for all my electronic/computer gadgets and adapters. For example, I use one bag for all my digital camera accessories (battery re-charger, adapters, memory cards) and I use another bag to hold my ipod and all its adapters and chargers. This makes my carry-on bag so much more organized. I highly recommend!

2) A hands-free Secret Neck Pouch made by Magellan’s

I personally have the Secret Neck Pouch by Magellan’s pictured below but really any kind will do. I find it makes going through security so much easier and also gives me piece of mind that all my important documents and money are attached to my body. You can also hide it under your clothes if you like. If you do plan on mostly keeping it under your clothes then I would definitely recommend the carrier picutred below for the it’s thin and lightweight fabric. It’s a little less bulky than others I’ve seen out there.

3) For European travel, the “Euro-Surge” surge protector.

The Euro-Surge adapter for European countries was recommended to my boyfriend who djs overseas every year. He required a very reliable outlet adapter to use run his computer and dj equipment for performing and producing music with other european artists. I bought one for my travels this past summer and it didn’t disappoint. I like that it lights up on the side to tell you that it is grounded and you get two plugs out of one. These days when you have a laptop, camera, cell phone, ipod, etc. it comes in handy to have multiple plugs. It runs $50.00 but it’s worth the price to protect your expensive gadgets.

So those are my top 3 recommendations. I leave you with another beautiful photo of the Adriatic Sea in Croatia.

(And YES! the water really is that color, completely untouched photo. )

Oooh, I can’t wait to go myself. And the last time I traveled abroad, you made me take that under-clothing secret pouch thing and I’ve got to admit, it was genius!
